Gestern bei Hideyourarms entdeckt. IPhone User raffen es sofort aber auch so ne nice Idee wie ich finde.

Ich hab mir mal die Arbeit gemacht und rausgesucht welche Designer bei ABT in den letzten Jahren am derbsten abgerockt haben. Stand heute. Die Liste wird sich in den nächsten Woche natürlich wieder ordentlich durcheinander würfeln he he.

Ein paar Fakten:

95 Winner und Lucky loser Designs wurden produziert. Dazu etliche Specials wie der Xmas Dash oder Kooperationen mit Guut im Bereich Live Shopping. 41 verschiedene Designer haben bei ABT Contests gewonnen. 32 davon sind deutsche Designer. 9 internationale Winner waren dabei. U.a. aus Amerika, England, Spanien, Frankreich, Asien und Südamerika. Knapp 50.000 € Prämien haben die Designer bisher insgesamt gewonnen.

Hey Hector. Just a short biography, please.
I’ve always stood out from the majority here, just as anyone who has individual thoughts in this tiny, narrow-minded city. My hobbies and taste in music, movies, etc has always set me aside, and probably the fact that I’m a humanoid lizardlike creature has contributed to that in a degree as well.

Still, I’m probably just a big fish in a small tank.

And what is the history behind the „Taking the bus“ design?
I think arriving late somewhere because of public transportation is something almost everyone can relate to, public transportation here sucks so I‘m definetly familiar with it. One day the idea of a giant character having the same issue with a regular-sized bus came to my mind, so started sketching and later turned into this.

Where are you now located? Tell us about your current business and projects.
I a small city in Mexico, no need to name it cause no one knows it anyway. I recently finished school and now I’m trying to get into freelancing, but I still have a long way to go.

Well, what would you suggest to a newbie, who just starting his or her career as a designer?Well, I still consider myself sort of a newbie, but practice is always the best advice in my opinion, never put your pencil down.

What do you think about communities these days?
If you mean online communities I think they can be great places for inspiration, interaction, improvement and procastrination; I’ve had my share of all of those in the year+ I’ve been memeber of a few of them.

Do you work on Mac or PC? Why did you choose this platform?
PC, mainly for the cost, but I used Mac at school and there wasn’t a hhuge difference, considering what I do. Also, I love windows, it allows me to be lazy.

Do you play videogames?
I love videogames, I play mostly old-school snes games, but I recently bought a Wii and I’ve been playing it a lot.

What are your hobbies?
Drawing, playing guitar, videogames, reading and watching movies.

What is THE place on earth you would like to visit?
I wouldn’t know of just one place, but I would love to visit Europe, get soaked in the different cultures, and visit lots of museums.

How many hours do you work, and what is stress for you?
It varies a lot, considering I’m not working a regular job. Sometimes it can be from the moment I wake up to 14 hours later, sometimes just 2.

Stress for me is working 8 hours doing something I hate just for money.

Latest movie you liked?
Tideland.

What’s your favorite sites? Why?
I’ve never been much of a websurfer, I used to use internet just to find music, but for a while now I’ve been visiting several t-shirts sites on a somewhat regular basis.

Any plans for the future?
Drink some coke, go to bed and hopefully have a good idea for a design before I fall asleep.

Ein nettes kleines Vektor Tool habe ich bei GoMedia entdeckt. Das Ganze kostet nur 79$ und ist für Einsteiger sicherlich ne interessante Sache.

Nerdcore Winner

Die Geekygaeng von DXTR hat den Nerdcore Contest gewonnen! Knapp war es und der Score von Cekas The adventures of captain d bil chimp boy war auch ein bisl höher. Der Nerdocre Rene höchstpersönlich und wir haben aber befunden das DXTR das Thema besser umgesetzt und getroffen hat. Congrats!

Nichtsdestotrotz is Ceka’s Teil auch n Knaller und wir werden mal aushecken, ob da vielleicht was geht, falls gewünscht von euch.

Das wär mal n geiler Urlaub. Würd ich direkt als Haustier mitnehmen.

Wo ist der Fehler?

Als ich letztens beim Rheinkultur war ist mir dieses Shirt durch meinen peripheren Sichtbereich gehuscht aber ich hab es für eine optische Täuschung gehalten und auf die Sonne und den Alkohol geschoben. Gestern schickt mir unser treuer User Silvan dieses Pic vom Meltfestival am letzten Wochenende. Was soll man sagen? Der zweite Rip eines ABT Shirts. Beim letzten Mal war es ja nur n Markt in Asien…weit weit weg…aber jetzt sogar in heimischen Gefilden…pff…

Photoshop brush manager

Wer kennt es nicht. Man will in Photoshop dem Design einen letzten Schliff verpassen und z.B. einen waterbased Brush aus seiner schon amtlichen Bibliothek auswählen…nun beginnt der Ärger. Viel zu kleine Preview, hakeliges navigieren über den Scrollbalken und von der Performance mal ganz abgesehen. Macht keinen Spaß und Adobe ändert seit Jahren nix.

Hier kommt der Brush Pilot Manager ins Spiel, den ich bei GoMedia entdeckt habe. Das Teil kommt aus der Feder des Bitbox Machers Jay Hilgert und ist eine reine Wohltat. Unbedingt antesten.
