And what is the history behind the “Don’t step on the grass“ design?
…
One day I was sitting on the grass of a park waiting for a rock concert started, I had this idea when I saw my shoes dirty by grass. (see photo about this day in annex)

Where are you now located? Tell us about your current business and projects.
…
Currently I live in a small apartment near the agency where I work. I am involved in a major project of the agency, to launch a website of Services for “georeferencing� and while hardly have time to work on my personal projects.

Well, what would you suggest to a newbie, who just starting his or her career as a designer?
…
I think the basis for who is the starter, is not holding fast to one style of work. Seek ways and try different flavors and thus become a complete professional.

Who are your favorite designers and artists around the world? Why?
…
Oh my god, I appreciate the work of various professionals in different fields, but I will speak mainly of those who were the first to influence my work. 
The first is the ‘El Greco’, the first great painter who had the pleasure of knowing the job. I won a book when I was a child.

What do you think about communities these days?
…
If you are talking about the internet communities, I think is the main gateway for new professionals and a source for references and studies of style.

Do you work on Mac or PC? Why did you choose this platform?
…
PC. Well, where I was born, have a PC was a very difficult thing to have a Mac was almost impossible. Today, exchange the platform is not an essential thing.

Do you play videogames?
…
I like a lot of videogames. But I do not have one. I spent much of my free time when I’m playing something, and now time for me is more than money. 
The only game I play now is the ‘City of Heroes’ with my evil necromancer’ cyan skull ‘. =D

What are your hobbies?
…
Nothing much different from most men of my age. Listen music, dating, read, watch movies and most frequently of all, draw. = D

What is THE place on earth you would like to visit?
…
For now I still need to know my country in full. Brazil is a giant country and I still have a lot of places to go.

How many hours do you work, and what is stress for you?
…
Usually I work from Monday to Friday on average about 15 hours a day. I have insomnia, then, most of the time when I awake, I’m producing something.

Latest movie you liked?
…
At last the weekend I watched ‘Star Trek’, I’m not a fan of the original series, but I liked this version so much. But, speaking about the last film that I love certainly was ‘ Crash ‘. This really is one of the best I ever saw.

What’s your favorite sites? Why?
…
Among my favorites are the Abduzeedo (http://abduzeedo.com) with daily inspirations very precious and deviantART (http://deviantart.com) where I put most of my work and got the news of other artists who are among my favorites.

Any plans for the future?
…
In the distant future I intend to launch a book and a series of graphic novels, but this is a project for many years ahead. Today I want to finalize some issues to have a little more free time and enjoy the life.

Heute wird die Twitter-Strick-Maschine “Pa++ern� von Daito Manabes und Motoi Ishibashis vorgestellt. Es geht darum mit Hilfe eines eigens entwickelten Twittercodes der beiden Artists innerhalb von 140 Zeichen ein Stickmuster per Nadelführungscode durchzugeben aus deren Pattern dann das gewünschte T-Shirt-Design gestickt wird. Funky Idee.

Nerdcore

Der ABT loves Nerdcore Contest ist beendet.

Was mir an Special Contests gefällt ist die Tatsache, dass wir Designer im Gegensatz zum normalen thematisch freien Pro Contest auch mal nach “Briefing” arbeiten müssen. In diesem Falle nur sehr grob umrissen aber immerhin. Das wird natürlich auch direkt mal weniger eingesandt, weil…is ja nicht so einfach und erinnert an Arbeit Allerdings kommen dabei dann auch wirklich schöne neue Styles zum Vorschein, die wir im Normalfall wohl nicht hier finden würden. Meine Favoriten seht ihr oben. Bin gespannt wer das Rennen macht.

Der Gewinner wird am 21.07. 2009 bekannt gegeben.

Danke an alle, die mitgemacht haben. Btw unser aktueller Contest Winner Ceka darf heute Nachmittag noch seinen Entwurf nachreichen, weil er gestern so derbst auf seinen Sieg gefeiert und die Deadline verschlafen hat

Schauraum Dortmund

Am 17. Juli wird an der Fachhochschule Dortmund im Fachbereich Design die Abschlussausstellung des Sommersemesters 09 eröffnet. Unter dem Namen “schauraum” findet die Abschlussausstellung nun zum dritten Mal statt und präsentiert die Diplom-, und zum ersten Mal auch Bachelorarbeiten, der Studienrichtungen Grafik, Fotografie, Objekt-/Raumdesign und Kamera.

Am Freitag um 12 Uhr findet zunächst die feierliche Eröffnung mit der Vergabe der Abschlusszeugnisse in der Aula des Fachbereichs Design am Max-Ophüls-Platz 2 statt. Darauf folgt dann von 13 – 22 Uhr die Möglichkeit sich alle Abschlussarbeiten in den Räumen der FH Dortmund anzuschauen. Wiederum gefolgt von der Abschlussparty ab 23 Uhr im Le Grand Dortmund.

Am Samstag, den 18., und Sonntag, den 19. Juli, ist die Ausstellung jeweils noch von 12 – 18 Uhr geöffnet.
