yeeees. Michele Boscagli (1979 – 20??) was a 100% Italian illustrator and graphic designer. As one of the most unrecognized figures in 21th-century art, he is best known for making few tshirt design and some other stuff. Boscagli showed a passion and a skill for drawing and messing around from an early age. Theese are still my main interests

And what is the history behind the “Recipe for a jpg cocktail “ design?
… there’s no history. I keep an “unfinished stuffâ€? folder on my pc desktop. There go all frozen ideas, useless sketches, half designs, 2D sick foetus, graphic disappointments and so on. That time I was having my fresh moijto with roman mint while thinking at this contest . Art bastard. A broad subject, too much freedom for me. I took a look at that folder. I saw a light in the chaos. and I suddenly realized how to get useful those abandoned pieces. Shaking em with love.

Where are you now located? Tell us about your current business and projects.
…
I’m located in Padova, Italy. Started as generic illustrator/designer and i experienced in various direction. But in these last six years I always worked for fashion and street clothing companies and t-shirt became my work surface. At the moment I’m working with bands and brands, but i’m new in freelance world so I’m entering design competitions to draw attentions.

Well, what would you suggest to a newbie, who just starting his or her career as a designer?
…Before making money, before having personal site, before following trends or clichés, please, find your stylistic priorities. You need a personality to work on. Probably it will change over the years but you have to start somewhere. So copy, change, cut, paste, mix. ask, read. Test your limits and improve your skills. When you’ll be sick due to overworking, you’ll be allowed to introduce yourself to this world.

Who are your favorite designers and artists around the world? Why?
… Once I fell in love in random order with Andrea Pazienza. with Moebius. with Masamune Shirow, with The Designers Republic, with Chet Zar, with Milton Glaser. And many other artists around the web. When love ends, I keep in my heart all their good lessons.

What do you think about communities these days?
… Very useful for contacts. Honest feedbacks you can’t have with friends and relatives. New work opportunities that fortunately some designers and illustrators still ignore.
But I’m quite lazy and mistrustful towards new friends so my social life is not so active.

Do you work on Mac or PC? Why did you choose this platform?
… I always worked with Mac and liked his friendly style. We are quite friends now.

Do you play videogames?
…Please. it’s a delicate issue. I’m quite old and I’m still trying to quit…

What are your hobbies?
…uh..nothing extreme except sitting in front of the computer for several hours.
Cooking, emulating some great musicians with my band, having words with my girlfriend,
thinking a better world while staring into the void and some saliva drops falls from my open mouth

What is THE place on earth you would like to visit?
… Berlin in this moment. And a random natural paradise.

How many hours do you work, and what is stress for you?
… 8 hours on average. I totally hate me when I lose a design and I have to remake it exactly alike.
This is so stressing for me that I could give up. Or invent all sort of lies to avoid this torture.

Latest movie you liked?
… Martyrs, The wrestler, Burn after reading

What’s your favorite sites? Why?
… Cool sites are too much to say and I’d probably forget the better ones. Most used are: youtube cause i usually listen to videos (documentaries,shows,speeches) while working; emptees.com cause there’s a lot o good different individuals; wordreference and google to improve my language skills (and continue concealing my gap with simple sentences and some cut&paste ahah)

Art Bastard

Der ABT loves Art Bastard Contest ist gestern ausgelaufen. Die letzten sehr geilen Einsendungen eingetrudelt. Nun könnt ihr noch die letzten Designs bewerten bis wir am 05.06. den Gewinner ermittelt haben.

Danke an den Art Bastard und alle teilnehmende Designer. Es wird definitiv einen mehr als würdigen Gewinner geben. Meine Favoriten seht ihr oben. Bin gespannt wer das Rennen macht.

Morgen ist Einsendeschluß für unseren Contest in Collabo mit dem Art Bastard. Also wer noch mal die Feder schwingen möchte, um 500€ abzustauben…sein Siegerdesign auf 100 Buttons zu sehen…und als Sahnehäubchen sein Shirt in einer Ausstellung bewundern möchte…dem sei gesagt…reingehauen!

Am kommenden Montag startet der “ABT meets Art Bastard” Contest! Unser Mike hat uns den Bastard gezeichnet. Thanks Dude!

Der erste Special Contest in diesem Jahr kommt…am 20.04. starten wir zusammen mit dem Art Bastard durch. Das Thema…wie soll es anders sein…”WE LOVE ART“. Also ziemlich frei gehalten..jedoch solltet ihr dem ganzen einen “artsy” touch geben. Also diesmal sind die Künstler unter euch gefragt und können schon mal die Hirse anstrengen

Detaillierte Spezifikationen wird es beim Launch geben aber vorab schon einmal was zu den Gewinnen.

Heute mal ein Ausstellungstip für die kommenden Aprilwochen: Art Bastard hat zusammen mit der Nice/Nice Galerie aus Hannover eine Groupshow internationaler Designer und Künstler ins Leben gerufen. Unter dem Motto “Threesome” werden ab dem 18.04.2009 für 6 Wochen Werke in den Farben schwarz/weiss & grün oder schwarz/weiss & blau ausgestellt.

Von unserer Abt Community sind auch einige vertreten, u.a. Peachbeach, dasMo, timrobot und ich. Vielleicht sieht man sich ja dort zur Vernissage?!
