Biography

Illustrator and cartoonist from Philadelphia, USA.

Work Method / Inspiration

Most projects start as a ridiculous idea in my head while I'm at work or walking down the street. I have about 20 years worth of ideas for paintings and comics that I hope to finish someday. Everything starts as a semi-coherent pile of doodles and sketches that I jam together, sketch and redraw over and over with tracing paper until it actually looks like something. Then the finish is either black ink on bristol board or gouache on printmaking paper. I use the computer minimally for coloring and touching things up. I'm inspired by everything from comics, illustration, photography, everyday life, even TV and movies. Lately I've been reading Peter Bagge's Hate comics again, can't ever get enough. Also photographer Zoe Strauss, a fellow philadelphian, her work has been blowing me away lately.
